Face Lift Linwood
There are many ways to attain a more youthful appearance at Cornerstone Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Medicine. Dr. Fred Coville is an innovator and well-respected expert in combining both surgical and non-surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation. For the right person, a facelift is the key element in erasing the signs of aging, and may be used alone or in conjunction with other surgical and non-surgical treatments to achieve the most natural results.
Formally known as a Rhytidectomy, a facelift is a subtle repositioning of the skin of the face most often combined with some tightening of underlying muscle. The modern facelift has evolved tremendously from its roots of simply tightening skin. In addition to the tightening, Dr. Fred will reshape and reposition the subcutaneous fat of the face. Frequently, he will add fat to the face taken from your own body to add to the volume we often lose through aging. Dr. Coville also may add platelet rich plasma to your fat taken from your own blood to create a “stem cell facelift.” This additional procedure will also help to rejuvenate your skin. The aim of facial cosmetic surgery is to give a more youthful appearance without looking unnatural or “operated upon.” It is in this regard that Dr. Fred excels. His combination approach to facial surgery results in a powerful refreshed appearance that is completely natural.
Why have a facelift?
As we age, gravity, sun, and stress affect our faces, producing deep creases between the nose and mouth, slacker jaw lines, as well as folds and fat deposits around the neck. There is also a loss of, and downward repositioning of the volume of the face. Facial cosmetic surgery can reduce some of the more visible signs of aging – excess fat is removed and/or repositioned, the underlying muscle is tightened, and volume is almost always restored. Finally, the skin of your face and neck is subtly repositioned. During your consultation with Dr. Fred Coville, you’ll be able to discuss all the available treatments and techniques and decide together what can and should be done in your particular situation. Dr. Fred’s goal will always be to leave you with a youthful look that enhances your natural beauty without appearing “overdone.”
Other Cosmetic Surgery Options
A facelift can be combined with other procedures which can enhance your facelift, including:
- A forehead lift (browlift)
- Eyelid surgery (for bags under the eyes or droopy eyelids)
- Improvements to nose (rhinoplasty)
- Chin and or jaw refinement (with or without implants)
- Neck Lift with or without liposuction
- Cornerstone Signature Deep Facial Peels to improve the texture and health of the skin
- Fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane to restore volume, address imperfections and lines in the skin, as well as reshape the face
- Injectables, such as Botox or Dysport, to relax furrows, creases, and wrinkles in the skin
- Fat Transfer from your own body to restore volume and reshape the face
- Stem Cell plasma injections to rebuild your own soft tissue and enhance the quality of your skin
How to tell if a facelift is right for you?
If your face and neck have begun to show the effects of aging, but your skin still has some elasticity and your bone structure is well defined, a facelift may be right for you. Most patients are in their forties, fifties, or sixties, but facelifts can be performed successfully on people in their seventies or eighties. Most people are happy with their facelift, particularly the realistic patients who accept that the body takes time to heal. For most patients, the effects of a facelift last so well that, years later, they’ll continue to look and feel younger. Remember however, that your face will continue to age with time, and that gravity will continue to exert its influence. So you may want to repeat the facial cosmetic surgery procedure perhaps after ten years or so. Dr. Coville has many unique techniques that he uses to prepare your skin so that you can maximize the results from your surgery as well as keep and maintain these results longer. A facelift can make you look younger and so may enhance your self-confidence. However, remember it can’t alter your appearance completely, or give you back your youth. Please discuss your facelift expectations thoroughly with Dr. Fred and his staff at Cornerstone Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Medicine before deciding.
It’s important you follow our instructions on how to prepare for surgery. They will cover eating, drinking, smoking, taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications and washing your face. If you are a smoker, it’s especially important that you discuss this very openly with Dr. Coville. More than just about anything else, smoking will interfere with the results from a facelift. The risk of complications is much greater in smokers than in non-smokers. You will have absolutely nothing to gain by concealing a smoking habit from your Dr. Coville, since the risk of infections, delayed wound healing, and even the loss of facial skin can be quite devastating. If there is any question as to your smoking, Dr. Coville may order some laboratory tests to determine your nicotine levels prior to surgery. Remember, smoking inhibits blood flow to the skin, and can interfere with healing. Be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery and to help you out for a few days if needed. Additionally, by way of preparation, Dr. Fred is a strong believer in restoring healthy skin prior to any facelift procedure. He likens it to preparing a canvas before creating a work of art. If you start out with healthy skin, every other treatment will look better. He will be happy to discuss all available treatments and options with you during your consultation.
