Vaginoplasty surgery tightens the vaginal canal by repairing stretched pelvic floor muscles and removing excess tissue. It’s most often sought after childbirth, but aging and significant weight loss can produce the same laxity. Pregnancy, vaginal delivery, and hormonal shifts all place stress on the same connective tissue, and the resulting changes are common even though they don’t always resolve on their own.
Dr. Coville tailors each surgical plan to restore support and natural anatomy, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all technique. The goal is a result that feels tighter and more supported without feeling unnatural — every plan is built around your anatomy, symptoms, and goals, and performed in an accredited surgical facility with your comfort and safety as the priority.
Vaginoplasty sits at the intersection of function and aesthetics, which is where Dr. Coville’s background is strongest. He is a fellowship-trained aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon with more than 25 years of experience and over 14,000 procedures behind him, including reconstructive cases that demand the same structural precision this surgery calls for.
That reconstructive foundation traces back to his surgical residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, and continued through plastic surgery residency at Mount Sinai in Manhattan, where he served as Chief Resident of the Division of Plastic Surgery. Patients considering vaginoplasty benefit directly from that training: a surgeon who thinks in terms of restoring support and function, not just appearance.
Vaginal laxity and pelvic support. Repairing stretched muscle restores structural support to the vaginal canal and the surrounding pelvic floor.
Sexual satisfaction. Vaginoplasty for women can restore muscle tone and improve friction and sensation during intimacy.
Confidence. Many patients report feeling more comfortable and empowered in their bodies once healing is complete.

Every consultation is private and confidential. Dr. Coville will review your health history and goals, examine vaginal laxity and pelvic support, and walk you through what to expect, including recovery, risks, and whether combining procedures would benefit you.
Intimate procedures require trust, and Dr. Coville treats every conversation with the same discretion and openness he’d want for someone he cares about. You’ll leave with a clear picture of your options, a realistic sense of your recovery, and enough information to decide confidently, on your own timeline, not anyone else’s. No two treatment plans look the same because no two patients do.
MembershipVaginoplasty surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia, typically taking one to two hours. Dr. Coville repairs and tightens the vaginal muscles and removes excess tissue where needed, using dissolvable sutures and incisions placed to minimize visible scarring. You’ll spend a short time in recovery before heading home the same day. Pre-operative instructions, medication adjustments, avoiding nicotine, and arranging a ride home are provided in advance, and follow-up visits track your healing, swelling, return to normal activity, and vaginoplasty results.
Week one: Rest, wear loose clothing, use cold compresses as directed, and avoid prolonged sitting. Short walks support circulation.
Weeks two through four: Most discomfort continues to ease. Avoid heavy lifting, running, cycling, swimming, intercourse, tampon use, and high-impact exercise. Many patients return to desk work within one to two weeks.
Weeks four through six: Swelling continues to resolve, and light exercise may resume as directed.
Six to eight weeks: Most patients are cleared for intercourse, tampon use, swimming, and vigorous exercise. Timelines vary, and Dr. Coville will personalize your clearance based on healing.
The improvements from vaginoplasty surgery are often both physical and emotional. Restoring support to the pelvic floor can ease everyday discomfort, while feeling more confident in your body tends to carry over into how you move through daily life, not just intimacy.
As with any surgery, vaginoplasty carries potential risks, including swelling, bruising, bleeding, infection, temporary changes in sensation, delayed healing, scarring, recovery discomfort, and — rarely — the need for revision. Careful surgical planning and attentive follow-up help minimize these risks, and Dr. Coville will review them in detail during your consultation.
You may be a good candidate if you:

Many women in New Jersey pair vaginoplasty with labiaplasty or clitoral hood reduction to address both internal and external concerns in a single recovery. Fat transfer to the labia can restore fullness using your own tissue, while non-surgical Votiva® or hormone replacement therapy may support or maintain your vaginoplasty results long-term, particularly for patients navigating menopause-related tissue changes. Dr. Coville will recommend a combination, if any, based on your anatomy, symptoms, and goals; not the other way around.
Cornerstone Plastic Surgery serves patients throughout Linwood, Atlantic County, Cape May County, Ocean County, Toms River, South Jersey, and Greater Philadelphia. If childbirth, aging, or other changes have affected your comfort or confidence, a private consultation with Dr. Coville is the best next step.
